New Zealand Financial Category Codes (NZFCCs) were created and are maintained by Akahu. NZFCCs are a modern set of categories that are relevant to New Zealand and can be applied to various activities such as budgeting, lending, and accounting. These categories are open source and can be used freely.

NZFCCs are designed to provide highly granular categorisation. We expect that you will map these granular categories into groups that are relevant for your use case. We provide an example “personal finance” grouping in the data.
